FEE SCHEDULE: Title 28 Sec 32
Senate Bill 442 will increase the record preservation fee collected by county clerks from $5 to $10 for each instrument recorded with the Registrar of Deeds. Please be aware that this law will take effect November 1st, 2019.
For recording the first page of deeds, mortgages and other instruments not subject to the fee imposed by Title 12A, Sec 1-9-525- $8.00
Preservation Fee
$10.00
For recording each additional page of same instruments-$2.00
For furnishing photographic copies, per page-$1.00
For certifying to any copy per page,$1.00
For recording and filing of mechanics' or material lien, including the release-$10.00
For preparing and mailing notice of mechanic's or materilamen'd lien-$8.00 plus the actual cost of postage.
For each additional page or exhibit-$2.00
County Clerk
The County Clerk is the principal record keeper of the county. All legal instruments, including plat
maps, deeds, mortgages, oil and gas leases, liens, and military discharge papers that are filed with the
county by private citizens and public officials are preserved by the County Clerk.
Other duties of the
County Clerk include the following activities:
• Serving as secretary for the Board of County Commissioners and other county boards such
as the County Excise Board
• Recording all appropriations and expenditures for each county office or department
• Preparing warrants or checks for paying county bills and payroll
• When serving as the county’s purchasing agent, purchasing or leasing and maintaining all
county supplies and equipment
• Acting as the registrar of deeds
