Fair Board Election 2014 - Filing Period

The board of directors of a Free Fair Association shall be composed of nine members, who shall be elected for a term of four years. Three members shall be elected from each County Commissioner's district.
The elections for members of the board of directors shall be conducted by the County Election Board in the same manner as election of other county officers, but on a nonpartisan basis. No fee or petition is required to file a declaration of candidacy for office as a member of the board of directors.
Terms of Office
Within each County Commissioner's district, the term of one person serving as a member of a board of directors of a Free Fair Association on January 1, 2013, is extended until December 31, 2014, and the terms of two people serving as members are extended until December 31, 2016. The County Commissioner in office on January 1, 2013, shall designate in writing the members whose terms are to be extended and shall file the designation with the County Clerk. In the 2014 regular election cycle and in the regular election cycle every four years thereafter, one person shall be elected from each County Commissioner's district for a four-year term to begin January 1 of the year following the year of the election, whose position shall be designated as office #1. In the 2016 regular election cycle and in the regular election cycle every four years thereafter, two people shall be elected from each County Commissioner's district for four-year terms to begin January 1 of the year following the year of the election, whose positions shall be designated as office #2 and office #3.
In the event of a vacancy in the office of board of directors of a Free Fair Association, the Board of County Commissioners shall appoint a person to serve in the position for the remainder of the unexpired term.
The directors shall meet at the next regularly scheduled monthly meeting immediately following the elections at the regular meeting place of the counties for the purpose of organization, and shall elect a president, a vice-president, a secretary and a treasurer; provided, that the secretary need not be a member of the board of directors.
Meetings of the directors may be called by the president of the board or fixed by the board at any time convenient.
The treasurer shall furnish a surety bond executed with a qualified surety company doing business in this state, in such amount as the directors of the board may determine to be necessary to indemnify against any loss which may arise by reason of failure to perform the necessary duties of the office or other misconduct in office for which the director shall be held liable.
